ABOUT B&CO.'s CREATOR
The name BLACKETT & CO. is rooted in the place where it all began—Blackett Street, on Cape Breton Island.
It was there, surrounded by family stories, bonfire songs, and cherished seaside memories, that I first developed a deep love for storytelling, folklore, and the quiet magic they weave into everyday life.
Years spent away from the Maritimes inspired the creation of our Maritime Sea Salt & Honeysuckle candle. Its fragrance—salty sea air mingled with the sweet scent reminiscent of my grandparents’ honeysuckle vines—captures the essence of the shoreline on my childhood street.
Scent is our most powerful link to memory—quietly guiding us back to the moments that shape us. It has the power to transport us to the simplest and sweetest parts of our everyday lives: learning to bake, gathering wildflowers, evenings spent at the supper table, or celebrating seasonal traditions.
It’s the simple moments of the everyday that create our scent stories.

Nova Scotia—Latin for “New Scotland”—carries the echoes of our Celtic roots. The thistle in our logo is a quiet homage to that heritage, a nod to the folklore and traditions that shape our coastal story.
We acknowledge that B&CO. is based in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people. We are grateful to live and create on this land. We honour the Mi’kmaq as the original stewards of this land—those who have long listened to its rhythms, protected its richness, and walked with it in deep reciprocity.
