The Story Behind the Scent: How B&CO. Fragrances Are Created

Every BLACKETT & CO. fragrance holds a story—the flicker of a sweet memory, the comfort of a favourite season, or the warmth of reminiscing with family and friends. When you light one of our candles, we want that story to unfold slowly, beautifully—just as it was crafted.

📖Where fragrance begins

Each fragrance begins with an inspiration—a childhood memory, a walk through a wild landscape, time spent in a cozy kitchen, cottage stays, blooming gardens, beach visits,  or seasonal traditions. These stories become the soul of each fragrance.

Using this inspiration, we begin to gather a variety of essential oils and premium phthalate-free fragrances, each one chosen for its ability to conjure the story into scent. Then multiple blends of these fragrances are made, slowly layering note upon note, until it captures the story.

🕯️The art of test burns

There is no rush. Each fragrance is carefully crafted and refined over time and tested for how it burns, how the scent lingers, and how it fills a room. Each blend undergoes multiple variations and test burns over several weeks. Adjustments are made and each trial brings us closer to the blend that honours the story we are trying to tell.

There’s a little alchemy involved, we are not simply making candles, we are capturing a feeling in wax and wick.
